Movement as Refuge; Luminosity in the Present Moment

Friday June 01, 2018 4:00 PM to Sunday June 03, 2018 5:00 PM

Description Led by Dokai Georgesen, Head teacher for Hokyoji Zen Practice Community, and Myo-O Habermas-Scher, Guiding teacher for Dharma Dance Sangha

Stillness and movement are are not separate. Bringing gentle, concentrated awareness to both allows us to experience
freedom and relief from our constraining personal stories. Katagiri roshi, Myo-O and Dokai’s root teacher, used to say, “Human life is
really huge! You have no idea!” As he said this, he would raise both arms to each side as if making a right hand turn on his bicycle, with both arms.

In this huge life, which is our true home and our birthright, we will find the rest, ease, creativity and resiliency that we seek.

Please join us for a weekend of practice at beautiful Hokyoji Zen Practice Community, located in SE Minnesota, in the driftless region of hidden valleys and stunning hills. We will practice sitting and walking meditation, both inside and outside the meditation hall, (zendo). We will rest in lush silence, and in guided movement practice. There will be a dharma talk and time for discussion. We will support each other in tender awareness as we sit, walk, move, chant (a little bit), wash dishes, and prepare meals.
