Description Communications Strategy

Class Description
Strong internal and external communication is the key to breathing life into missions, building brand awareness, and securing funding to scale programming. This class will offer insight and best practices specifically catered to nonprofit organizations to help develop and execute effective communications strategy.

Key Objectives
· Provide tools to build internal brand awareness and ambassadors
· Provide resources to build external brand awareness and community engagement
· Empower nonprofits with strengths to align message and mission
· Share best practices around social media and digital analytics
· Offer best practices for utilizing traditional media
· Generate innovative (and easy) ideas to creatively meet public relations needs

Your Trainer
Angela Scott Abdur-Rasheed is an Alabama native currently serving as Communications and Community Engagement Director at Prosper, a Birmingham-based nonprofit with a mission to foster an inclusive economy in Jefferson County. Prior to that, she was Senior Director of Economic Empowerment at YWCA Central Alabama and is a former television broadcaster. Angela is regularly sought to train on topics like recruitment, program management, and media. Angela has served with, trained for, or trained under more than 30 local and national organizations and enjoys writing books in her spare time.
