Audition Workshop Series

February 10, 17, 24 & March 3 for kids age 8-16
Wednesdays from 4:45 – 7:15 pm

In-Person at the EVCT Rehearsal Studio
4501 E Main St Mesa

Take all four workshops for $125 or individual workshops for $35 each

Workshop 1 –Initial Preparation for the Audition - February 10 – 4:45–7:15 pm

Workshop will include determining your voice type, range, songs appropriate for you to sing and examination of the lyrics and meaning of the song. In addition, learning the aspects of musical theater songs: melody, lyrics, tempo, story.

Workshop 2 – Repertoire and Acting While Singing – February 17 – 4:45–7:15 pm

Workshop will include how to finalize your song for your audition, development of character, presentation of song, acting while singing and audition etiquette.

Workshop 3 – Finalizing your Songs and Improvisation – February 24 – 4:45–7:15 pm

Workshop will continue to concentrate on characterization of your song, being ready for anything that might get thrown at you at the audition, how to overcome nervousness, improvising different emotions and characters with your song.

Workshop 4 – Auditions and Performance - March 3 – 4:45–7:15 pm

Workshop will key in on the audition process and what to expect and how to handle questions from the panel of judges, how to sing your song acapella and with accompaniment. A final mock audition will be held in the class.

Student Play Writing Festival Performance
Performances – Tuesday February 16 @ 6:30 pm
This will be a virtual event.

East Valley Children’s Theatre will be performing staged readings and reader’s theatre style readings of the 10-minute plays from entrants of its 2020 Student Play Writing Festival.

Performances will be interspersed with judges’ comments about the original scripts.

Don’t miss this great festival of new works by young budding playwrights.

Cost of this amazing performance is only $10 per person.

Spring Break Camp – 2021

Where Imagination Comes to Life

Spring Break Camp - March 8-12 from 9 am to 4 pm FOR KIDS AGE 7-14.
An In-Person Experience at the EVCT Rehearsal Studio
4501 E Main St, Mesa

A camp filled with creativity, games, theatre, songs, and art all culminating in an original show on the final day of camp. All campers will need to pack a lunch each day, before and after care is available for a nominal fee.

Cost of the camp is $225

Sibling discount of $205 for second child is available by calling the EVCT office.

Upon entry at camp all participants will be required to have their temperature taken and they must wear a mask. We have our classrooms and lunch area set up for social distancing.

EVCT 2020-2021 Season

EVCT has adapted to virtual performances. This continues for the 2020-2021 season. Starting in April, we are scheduled to bring performances back to the Mesa Arts Center in the Nesbitt/Elliott Playhouse. Until then, Stay Safe and join EVCT for Virtual Performances.

We are so looking forward to live performances and seeing everyone at "the MAC".
