Nancy Rieves, Ed.D., Fundraising Coach

Nancy provides executive and development directors with a roadmap to raise more money through major gifts. With a proven step-by-step process, she removes the overwhelm and guides nonprofit leaders to become more confident and successful with fundraising.

Before becoming a fundraising coach, she was the founding executive director of an education-related foundation. During her 10-year period, she guided a development team in raising over $16 million for their nonprofit. She knows what it’s like to start from square one, raise millions, and guide a team in fundraising success.

In addition to her front-line fundraising experience, Nancy wrote her doctorate dissertation on analyzing fundraising activities. Her biggest discovery from her research was revealing -- too many nonprofits focus on small revenue-generating activities and never get past offering fundraising events. This discovery, along with her own success with large gift fundraising, led to her emphasis on teaching others how to secure major gifs for their nonprofit!

Securing large gifts is essential and must be a part of your annual fundraising plan. In order to make an impact in your community or the lives of others, you need to attract the support of major donors-despite little to no in-person meetings. Major gift fundraising is the single most effective way to fund your organization. Join us as we simplify the major gift fundraising process and learn how to ask for major gifts.

The following will be included in the training:
o Major gift fundraising strategies
o The INSPIR method
o How to ask for major gifts
o Discuss process of establishing a plan and carrying it out
o Discuss creating a clear and compelling message
o Fundraising blueprint / annual plan
o How to deepen relationships with current donors and cultivate new ones
o Help potential donors to understand the need and value of their nonprofit organization
o Learn how to identify donors who will donate large amounts to support the operational and other needs of their organization

Level: Beginning to Intermediate (101 and 201)

Training will be held in Birmingham and on Zoom.

The cost is $50 for members and $100 for nonmembers. If 2 or more from your organization attend, it is $45 for members and $90 for nonmembers. Please contact Carla Smotherman, carla@alabamanonprofits.org for the discount code.
