Financial Leadership to Strengthen Your Impact

Let’s be honest, no (or very few) nonprofit leaders join organizations because they enjoy accounting. But, like it or not, by understanding the financial drivers and health of your organization you’ll be able to more effectively accomplish your mission. This interactive webinar removes the jargon and sets the foundation for financial leadership. We’ll explore what financial leadership looks like and how leaders from all departments can embrace this role. We’ll also strengthen your financial literacy, explaining the purpose and peculiarities of nonprofit financial statements. Beyond reading financials however, we’ll also use them to assess your organization’s immediate and long-term financial health and discuss strategies for improving it. At the end of the session, you’ll have deepened your financial understanding of your organization and be ready to use them to make strategic decisions.

Steve Zimmerman
Steve works with nonprofit organizations throughout the US. He helps them combine mission impact and financial viability allowing them to be proactive even in a rapidly changing environment. He helps nonprofits focus on both programmatic and financial sustainability. In addition to nonprofit management, Steve has a background in accounting and broadcast television news. His approach to strategy is highlighted in two books that he co-authored, "The Sustainability Mindset" published in 2014 by Jossey-Bass (referenced in Standards for Excellence®), and "Nonprofit Sustainability: Making Strategic Decisions for Financial Viability" published in 2010, also by Jossey-Bass.

Level: 101 and 201 or for those wishing to strengthen their financial literacy
