Description Your trainer will be Ansel Payne, Founder and Principal, Studio Oldfields. Ansel founded Studio Oldfields in 2022 to provide nonprofit leaders, scholars, and others with the thoughtful assistance they need to achieve their goals.

A graduate of Harvard (BA) and Tufts (MS), Ansel earned his PhD in 2014 at the American Museum of Natural History, where he worked to uncover the complex evolutionary history of digger wasps. Since then, he’s focused his efforts almost exclusively on the nonprofit sector, most recently as the Executive Director of Alabama Audubon, a Birmingham-based organization that he helped to take statewide in 2019.

In addition to his consulting work, Ansel is a co-founder and practice leader in the Burning Rock Soto Zen community, a fiction and nonfiction writer, and an advocate for a more humane approach to work.

He proudly calls Birmingham, Alabama, home.

This training will cover an eclectic mix of new digital tools for productivity and project management, including Trello, Hootsuite, and a sustainable approach to email management.

Join us as we explore new tools that will make your workflows more efficient and your project-management challenges more tractable. Together, we'll discuss alternatives to email as a way of organizing and coordinating projects, do a deep dive on project-management platforms like Atlassian's Trello, and workshop solutions to real-world challenges from your own day-to-day work. Participants will also learn about best practices in file management, chaos management, and reducing digital clutter and distraction.

This training will provide:

-Information on which digital tools can help, and which can hinder, productivity
-A deep-dive training session on how to use Trello to organize workflows
-Hands-on exercises where participants will design Trello boards to tackle major projects from their organizations
-Tips for using Gmail and other email clients more efficiently
-Tips for file management and day-to-day best computational practices
-Discussion and workshopping of challenges and possible solutions for participants
-Interactive exercises and discussion prompts for attendees
