Description In this training, you, your staff, and/or your board members will learn the basics of development work. We will discuss why people give and which fundraising activities have the highest ROI. We will also look at the basics and best practices of the annual campaign, legacy giving, and earned income. In this session you will,

• Become more comfortable with and feel more inspired to ask for gifts.
• Understand what motivates people to give.
• Determine which fundraising activities should get the most of your time.
• Hear what your peers are thinking and doing in their development work.
• Look at development as a big picture.
• Remember it’s all about relationships.

This training will be held in Birmingham from 9:00-1:00 with a lunch break.

Danielle Dunbar is the Executive Director of the Alabama Association of Nonprofits and is a nonprofit veteran with over 19 years’ experience serving organizations of different sizes and missions. Besides starting a nonprofit, developing new programs and consulting with various groups, Danielle focused her efforts on development work. She has experience with annual campaigns, capital campaigns, and legacy giving.

Danielle earned a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Science from Auburn University and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Alabama at Birmingham. She has two mini-Aussies, is married to an engineer, and has two adult children who are also serving their communities.
