Description

An Intergenerational Mindful Outdoor Experience

In this Mindful Outdoor Experience (MOE), adults and children ages 5 to 12 learn to use their mind-body-spirit to begin the process of “re-wilding” to the outdoors. Spending time at “nature’s table” with our children creates cherished memories and builds an appreciation for all that “Mother Nature” gives.

A regular dose of outdoor activities also teaches people of all ages how to remedy complex and challenging emotions such as stress and loneliness. It is especially important to teach our children how to handle these emotions as early as possible so they become more adept as teens and into adulthood.

The best way to learn from nature is to be outside in nature. Jamila Keita, experienced Kripalu Mindful Outdoor Guide (KMOG), will lead us in age-appropriate nature-driven practices to awaken the senses and develop connections with the “more than human world,” gentle yoga movement to breathe, stretch & strengthen, and guided meditation practices to release stress, relax the mind and promote good emotional health.

No experience is necessary. Bring your curiosity and a few of the children, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, or other young people in your life for a delightful and engaging summer morning at the Well. We all need to get outside and take a breath!

FACILITATOR: Jamila Keita

FACILITATOR BIO: Hi! My name is Evangeline “Jamila” Keita. I’ve been practicing yoga for almost 25 years and decided to teach yoga as my “retirement job.” It was during my yoga training (YT200) that I was introduced to Yoga Nidra. Immediately after completing YT200 in 2014, I took my first Yoga Nidra training. Since that time, I’ve taken subsequent trainings in Yoga Nidra in 2017 and 2021. I love this practice.

During the shutdown, I found “nature therapy.” This led me to complete a course through “The Kripalu School of Outdoor Leadership” and become a KMOG (Kripalu Mindful Outdoor Guide).

I currently work for Nature Worx, a non-profit that provides mindful outdoor experiences and nature therapy to persons in recovery and the general public. I also teach two yoga classes per week on Zoom. Each class includes poses and a short Yoga Nidra session. Since 2022, I have provided weekly Yoga Nidra sessions for Hopewell Cancer Support Center and occasional Mindful Outdoor Experiences (MOEs). Additionally, I work for Nature Worx, a non-profit that provides MOEs to persons in recovery and the general public.

CANCELLATION/REFUND POLICY:

We recognize that mistakes happen or that sometimes plans change and you may not be able to attend a program for which you are registered. On rare occasions, the Well may also need to cancel or reschedule a program. Both situations are disappointing, but we are prepared with the following options.

Before finalizing your registration/donation, please confirm your details. As a non-profit organization, Well for the Journey is not able to reimburse for credit card processing fees incurred from duplicate registrations and/or incorrect donation amounts.

If a program is cancelled by Well for the Journey, or rescheduled and you cannot make the new date, a full refund will be provided to you. For programs with pre-scheduled Inclement Weather Dates, refunds will be provided only if both the original scheduled date and the planned Weather Date are cancelled.

If you are unable to attend a program for which you are registered, you may gift your ticket to another party. Please notify the Well with your request at kristan@wellforthejourney.org and provide the name, mailing address, and email address of the person who is taking your place at the program.

If you cancel your registration 72 hours or more prior to the program start time, you may request a refund up to 50% of the program fee or request that your 50% refund be donated to the Well’s Scholarship Fund. Please contact the Well with your request at kristan@wellforthejourney.org .

Refunds are not available for cancellations when notification is received by the Well in less than 72 hours prior to the start of the program so that sufficient funds are available to cover the Well’s administrative expenses. We sincerely appreciate your consideration of the time and effort that the Well and your Facilitator put forth in bringing your program to life and thank you for your understanding of our Cancellation Policy.
